RE: COBRA “Continuing Extension Act of 2010”

We have received formal notification today from the Department of Labor that on April 15, 2010, the President signed into law another extension for COBRA premium assistance. The extension provides premium subsidies for eligible individuals who are involuntarily terminated from employment through May 31, 2010.

Updated Model Notices have not yet been posted to the DOL website. However, they should be available in the near future at www.dol.gov/ebsa/COBRAmodelnotice.html .

In addition, we have also received notification today from the Oregon Insurance Division. They are working on emergency rules that will apply the latest subsidy extension to Oregon State Continuation for those of you who have fewer than 20 employees. They are in the process of updating their website to reflect these changes.
